Protesting Lawyers and Lahore Police Encountered in Collision in Surroundings of LHC

Today, Mall road of Lahore and nearby areas of Lahore High Court were showing a war like situation. The story started when lawyers of Lahore High Court Bar Association tried to disrupt the court proceedings of contempt of court proceedings of their fellow President of Multan Chapter Sher Zaman Qureshi who was charged on badly misbehaving with a judge named Muhammad Qasim Khan during case proceedings in Multan pertaining to a mosque.

Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Mansoor took serious notice of this kind of harsh and disobedient dealing with a senior judge and ordered to issue no- bailable warrants of advocate Sher Zaman Qureshi and his companion Syed Qaiser Abbas Kazmi and also instructed to cancel their license.

On this, supporting Lawyers got much angry and started creating violence in surroundings of court. Lahore Police came into action with their water cannon and tear gas. Later on Lawyers insured them of a peaceful protest and started a sit in on mall road.

According to statement of President Lahore Association Zulfiqar Ch, Lawyers will observe strike in whole Punjab on Tuesday and protests will be continued till replacement of Chief Justice Lahore High Court.

The case erupted when Sher Zaman Qureshi, president Lahore High Court Bar Multan Chapter and Syed Qaiser Abbas extremely misbehaved with a senior judge during case proceedings and halted whole proceedings of the court on 24th July, 2017. They used to spoil judge’s image and also removed his name plate affixed outside the court room. After that, Chief Justice Lahore High Court withdrawn judges from Multan and Bahawalpur Chapter but this was restored soon.
